Only recentlty being back online after a several years I am very worried about all these new threats. Spyware and Adware were not even about last time I was online! I was connected up last friday and allready I have had a Trojan blocked, 6 various Spyware Threats my software has dealt with and according to ZoneAlarm 2166 blocked access attempts, 32 of which were high rated! Its a sad state of affairs. I received some excellent advice on here yesterday on removing microsoft Java, adding a-squared to my arsenal ands some other good tips. But still Ive had a problem. Id love to get hold of these smart asses who like to make these malicious programs! Id put em to sleep let me tell you zzz

Any way to the point. I have just run a full scan on my system using all my anti-virus and anti-spyware:-
AVG Free, Ashampoo Anti-spy, A-squared and Windows Defender.
Defender has warned me that BearShare is a high risk to my security, how come Limewire isnt then?? Anyway Ive `removed` it now.
Defender also found something called `NewDotNet` where it came from I have no idea! confused I removed it with defender no problem but I havent got a clue if it will stay `removed` !!!
How dangerous is this ADware? and how dangerous is this NewDotNet and BearShare?

All P2P programs are dangerous as you can read about in the below link which I gave to you in your other thread.

How to Protect yourself from malware!

Some are justy worse than others because the bundle malware with their installation. Bearshare does this. Older versions of LimeWire did the same, however newer versions supposedly (things can change) do not bundle malware.

NewDotNet is not what we would classify as a major problem, but it is still a problem and it can cause computer instability. See this:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302463

The malware that can be bundle with programs like Bearshare can be more of a problem since you never know what they will install. Sometimes they install programs that download additional malware related software onto your PC. i.e, SaveNow, WhenU, and NewDotNet often appear on PCs having Bearshare Adware slows down your PC and wastes your time but advertising and possibly redirecting you to undesired websites. Some of these also collect information on your surfing habits. They track websites visited and then may popup separate browser windows with targeted advertisements and special offers. They can continuously download updated information about new offers and collects a variety of information. Thus they slow your PC down too while doing this.

If you are having any current malware problems, you should be running this: READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support which Halo gave to you in your other thread.
