AdWare not able to retrieve update

Hi all

This one's weird ... I run 2 computers, both with the same protection, Norton AV, XP Firewall (behind a router connection to cable modem), MS Antivirus, AdAware and Spybot.

On #1 computer, Adaware runs fine ... P3 - 1Ghz- 384MB ram - Win XP home.

On #2 computer, Adaware runs ok, but now won't go to the site and update the files ... P4 - 3 Ghz - 512 ram - Win Xp pro. Both Dell dimensions.

I even just redownloaded the latest version of Adaware (from here, of course!!) and installed it and tried to go get the update (thinking there might have been a missing file or something) ... but, same thing .. can't connect to server error.

Is there some different setting in Pro vs. Home that would make a difference?? I just recently got the new unit and was given the older unit not long ago. I'm still catching up on XP "stuff" ... been running Win 2000 Pro until recently!

Any help would be appreciated!

What version of Ad-Aware are you running?

You can download the update manually.

Ad-aware SE referencefile SE1R55 19.07.2005

Once download is complete, extract to the installation directory of Ad-Aware.

I always run the latest version ... can't be too careful!

It finally DID update, but took about 10 tries ... oh well, as we used to say in the "old days" of computing (70's) it's just FM! (F******* Magic!)

It's good to have the manual update anyway, I've been downloading Norton's and burning it to a CD to have for clients with slow connections ... I'll have to add this one as well!

Anyone have the link for Spybot?? Might as well complete my "collection"!
