AFD device not working

After virus removal had to find the afd.sys file and put back in registry. Internet connection is stuck at Authenticated and will not get IP address.

In Device Manager - Non Plug and Play - the AFD has a yellow exclamation point. When I try to start the driver I get the message the the system cannot find the path specified.

Please help. Thank you.

 

Do you have the afd.sys file in C:\windows\system32\drivers ?

 

Yes.

 

In the registry key:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\ImagePath

Is the path listed?

What OS are you using.

For Windows 7, I have

Under AFD, I have 9 entries
Under Enum I have 4 entries

 

I'm running Windows XP ver 5.1

I am not sure what the problem may be. Did you do the virus removal yourself. You may want to go to the Malware Removal Forum and post your logs just to make sure you are clean.

Are there any additional notices in Event Viewer? Do you have NDIS.sys in the drivers folder? I am not sure if resetting the TCP/IP stack would help.
