Hi guys, On Monday I downloaded a Steganos internet anonym torrent and after installing the program and didn't like it I noticed that My AVG picked up that it was a Trojan I can't remember the exact name but it was either the: W32.Dropper worm or a.bat virus. I found this out after I read the comments under the torrent >.> (yeah i know i should've read them first). I don't remember seeing any warning windows after I clicked the .exe file so either I had my anti virus off or it got buried behind other windows. Like I said before I only found out It was a virus because the program sucked and after I uninstalled it I started having problems, which lead me to go back to the .exe file and install it again, thinking that I may have not uninstalled it properly seeing that browser windows were opened at the time so I was going to install it and uninstall it again. This was after I restarted my pc because of the continuous disconnections and my anti virus was on, when i clicked the .exe file again that was when i discovered it was a trojan.

Anyway so after that I ran a system scan and it placed the infected file into the virus vault where I deleted it afterward.

Now when ever I try to connect to any website in ANY browser I still find myself having to refresh the page at least 5 times on average to get the page to load.

I have scanned my pc over and over for spyware with Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-aware and they pick up nothing (The only thing are some Tracking Cookies which I delete). I've scanned my PC for viruses about 5 times now and it picks up nothing. I think that file, can't remember the name of it, that was the virus might have been and important system file or that trojan might have infected other files related to my broswer.

Because the interesting thing is, I can play games like WOW and PW with no disconnections. I can log into MSN messenger and never get disconnected. These frequent disconnects are only related to my browsers.

I now use FireFox 3 (I uninstalled the previous one because I thought it would solve the problem)

I'm also at the moment am using Internet Explorer 6, I rolled back from 7 thinking it might also fix this problem.

I am using windows XP SP2, I'm upgrading to SP 3 at the moment, hoping that maybe some updates might solve this problem hopefully (but i doubt it).

So any idea on how I can solve this problem guys? I really don't want to have to reinstall the whole OS >.>. Besides I don't even think I can find my XP CD. I don't know what to do, this is really frustrating.

    Hi axor112,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

If you have not downloaded SP3 yet, please wait. The service packs download better onto clean computers. In order to help you, we need certain scans that show us what files have been added to your computer. To get the logs from this, we need for you to go through the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. When you're finished, use the Manage Attachments button down below the reply window to attach the requested logs. This will allow us to make up a set of instructions specific for your computer.

    Thanks.

    You're welcome Axor112,

That your computer is doing better now is an indication that it had malware. If you would like for us to check your logs, please attach them. This will allow us to see if there are any remnants left which could restart the malware programs.
