Malware now clean, but please see attached image.

The icon shows that I'm not connected to the Internet, but I am. And whether I'm connected wirelessly or via cable wire, that icon appears w/the X through it.

How do I fix it. Thoughts?

    THANKS!

    Hi

If you try Windows in Safe Mode With Networking can you connect at all? (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking).

Also try this HERE to reset TCP/IP (Winsock) etc

Was your malware cleanup done at Majorgeeks by our malware team?

Hey, thanks for the reply, David!

I think you missed the part where I said "I AM connected" ;) The icon shows I'm NOT, but I am INDEED connected.

Also, your link takes me to a thread discussing sunburn.

And, yeah, the malware cleanup was done here, but it was suggested I post here b/c it's now a software ish.

Let me know next steps if you can.

    Thx, man!

    Hi

hahhaaha on the link, I must have had a few in the Clipboard oops! did you get any good tips though?

Ah kinda must have not read that correctly, sorry, I would try the FixIt and see if it helps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

What you could try from an Elevated CMD prompt (click Start and type CMD into the Start Search box then when CMD shows right click and Run as Administrator) then type or past in the following and hit enter after each one

    winmgmt /verifyrepository
    winmgmt /salvagerepository

restart PC and see if that helps *this resets the WMI Repository* then senter Services and make sure the Network services are set to Automatic and Running.

    Hey, David!

The problem appeared again after a recent complete uninstall of FF using Revo.

I followed the instructions again. First time I did it, I missed this part: "enter Services and make sure the Network services are set to Automatic and Running." But I DID do it this time, although I'm uncertain if I hit all the right things. I'm including an image.

The HIGHLIGHTED area is what I changed. There IS one Network service right above the highlight that I didn't touch, but it didn't seem relevant.

And I recommend your local pharmacy's off-brand of sun-screen, rather than spending more for a brand name. There's almost never a difference. =]
