    hello there major geeks!

found this site to be fantastic, well done to you its so well organised - i really made the effort to follow the steps properly, especially since i am unfamiliar with the technological terms etc...
however i had troubles from the go...(recently i had all these fixregnow.net popups with automatic shutdown etc, slow slow slow computer also but its fairly new just one year)
previously i used norton 2004 which was complete rubbish-it identified trojan but couldnt remove it - i have used my recovery disc around 6 times yet problems persist.
i couldnt get into safe mode (the recommended f8 key did nothing) so as u suggested i carried on in normal.
critical objects appeared in adaware (registry key probs) and counter spy (infected cookies)-all these were removed
on reconnecting to the internet the pop ups continued. did the first online scan no probs but panda active scan wouldnt load at all.
avg virus software comes up with some debug virus quite frequently.
the running of my computer has improved but i am still cocerned there is something not right and i cant seem to find a similar problem in other threads.

also i didnt turn system restore on and off since i dont think the problem is gone yet - should i go ahead with this anyway? since around 15 infections were removed with the tools you provided.

would really appreciate ur help and advice you fantasticly well endowed with knowledge group of people!!

    cheers
    christine

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Unless you follow all the directions in the READ & RUN ME and attach the logs as requested in steps 6 and 7, there is not much we can do for you. If you cannot run Panda (as stated) just continue on an attach the requested logs. If you could not run Windows Defender, make sure you ran CounterSpy and attach the log from it too.

If your PC is shutting down with messages about lsass, you may be way out of date with your system updates. And if you have use your system recovery disks, that returns you to the state your OS was shipped to you which means any updates previously performed are gone. System recovery disks are not that useful because of this. You need a real Windows XP SP2 CD to avoid problems like this.
