   hi guys! i managed to remove spyware quake from my pc using you'r great advice thanks again. it was easy to understand & worked a treat. i have a follow up question now my system is clean! after doing the bit about ( show all files & file extentions) should i leave it that way or go back & change it to hide those files again. maybe a stupid question but thought i would check.

   There is no reason to change it back unless you are worried about you or someone else doing something you should not do with regards to required system's files (needed for the Windows OS). If you do change it back, you will just be giving malware a great hiding place. The decision is yours and is typically based upon how you use your PC and how careful you are with using Windows Explorer to delete or move files around.
