agent.exe is using all my memory

I've tried to research this a little on my own, but I can't figure it out. Today, my computer started running slow and not allowing me to open new windows or run anything without closing just about everything down. I'm also getting messsages that say I don't have enough memory to run that task. In task manager - processes, it shows that agent.exe is taking 20-50% of my CPU. How do I get rid of this agent.exe thing? The only thing that I loaded since yesterday was the Blackberry Desktop software for my phone.
    Please help.

Could be Installshield Update Service agent. Usually it checks for latest updates on installed software.

It sort of sounds like your Blackberry software might have installed it. Maybe somewhere in that Blackberry software settings there is an option to not have it check for latest updates.

Thanks so much for your help so far. I can't find anything to change in the Blackberry software but I guess I can delete it if I have to.

I did find something called InstallShield in Default User>Application Data. IS this the program that is used to safely install all software and one that has probably been on my computer forever, or is this the one causing trouble? In the folder, there's a folder called ISEngine12.0, but I can't see what is in that folder. Can I delete this folder?

If this is not the thing causing problems, how do I search to find InstallShield Update Manager?

Someone suggested that I upgrade to XP Service Pack 3 to fix this problem, do you think that would help?

Thanks for helping me. I attached a screen shot from ccleaner, and there is something called ISUSPM in my startup list. How do I delete it? Can I do that in CCleaner? Also, I'm sure that the agent.exe had user name System at first, but now it has the user name as my name. Does that mean anything?

I forgot to tell you something in my last post. I removed the Blackberry Desktop program before I made the screen shots, and the agent.exe is still there. I read somewhere that Roxio uses that, and the Blackberry uninstall had a message about installing Roxio Media Manager. I don't see Roxio in my list of programs though.

I would love to clean up my startup list, but I'm not sure what to delete. I'm going to delete the ones I think I can delete, then make another full screen shot. Will you please help me determine which ones to delete?

I'm hope I'm not driving you crazy... I removed the update things from my start up using ccleaner, then ran ccleaner and restarted my computer. I still have agent.exe in my task list taking up lots of CPU.
