My son seems to need to use AIM instant messenger, but I have been told this could be the cause of redirects or highjacks i have experienced. I was told this gives a open port for someone to gain access, is this a problem and should I delete AIM and disable Microsoft Instant Messenger? Also I have in my add remove programs something called AccountLogon what is this ??

Try Gaim, I don't trust AOL because they are in it for the money, GAIM is open source and free and supports AIM, ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo, MSN and others all in the same program.

i dont know of any exploits in AIM or MSN that hackers can use. when they do find them they are usually fixed promptly with a new release. as long as you run the latest version you can sleep easy.

Well if the person on the end of AIM is being exploited, changing software isnt going to help. Don't accept executable files and don't click on links you don't know what they're for.

If there are vunls in the software, it will be fixed PDQ if it's serious. Make sure you're up to date with the software, and you'll be good.
