I just got a new PC with Vista Home Premium installed. Now I notice in my system tray that it is showing Windows Media Player found kristie.pc When I looked at the network connections I found several of these. How can I get rid of these aliens that I did not invite to my planet. Better yet how can I get rid of Media Player all together. I can't find a way to uninstall it. I want to keep my computer all clean and sweet smelling but the aliens are sneaking in through Media Player.

I looked at the web site that you posted. My PC is not hooked to any device other than my wireless modem that was installed by my service provider, when I tell it to map the network it's showing Xbox 360 and another wirless router and multiple PCs that I have no idea where they came from.

The Xbox 360 is a Media Extender device and any computer with Windows Media Player 11 is also a Media Extender, which your network will detect. If your wireless router/modem is unsecured, those other unknown PCs (and the Xbox 360 if it's not yours) could be using your internet access through your wireless router and your PC is detecting them as Media Extenders. Contact your service provider to learn how to secure your router/modem to prevent others from accessing your network.
