All 3D programs hang on new PC

I'm having some difficulties with a computer I just got for myself: every 3D game I have ran on it hangs at some point, requiring that I restart the computer. I am unable to alt + tab out, and toggling any of the keyboard locks (caps/scroll/num) shows no effect on the LED on my keyboard. Music still plays in the background, but stutters like it is running at 1FPS or lower, the mouse still moves, but only every now and then, like with the sound. I could probably make a video of this occurrence if it would help solve the problem.
After looking through the web a bit, I think it may be my motherboard needing an updated BIOS or driver (I'm not too sure if these are considered the same thing or not, I've never had to deal with them before).
All the drivers for the hardware I have is what came with it, updated through any auto update programs that came with the respective hardware, except my 8800GTX, which is using the latest Omega drivers for nVIDIA cards.

Well the system specs look upto the task do you use a system monitoring application so you can assess temps.....this can be notorious for causing system freezes and the like.

EVEREST is a good start....run the game for 5-10mins then hit "alt-tab" and look at sensors on EVEREST, what are the temps, volts etc etc....post back:

I left for work in the early morning, and just got off, with the computer running nothing at all the whole time, here is temps:
    Temperatures:
    Motherboard 37 °C (99 °F)
    CPU 21 °C (70 °F)
    Aux 68 °C (154 °F)
    GPU 57 °C (135 °F)
    WDC WD10EACS-00D6B0 28 °C (82 °F)
    WDC WD10EACS-00ZJB0 28 °C (82 °F)

After running Lost World: EC's FPS test, I have these temps:
    Temperatures:
    Motherboard 37 °C (99 °F)
    CPU 21 °C (70 °F)
    Aux 68 °C (154 °F)
    GPU 69 °C (156 °F)
    WDC WD10EACS-00D6B0 28 °C (82 °F)

Okay googling your problem I came across this:

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 cards, and strange SLI problem?

So lets make sure the cards match up, use:

    GPU-z 0.23

Have a look at the BIOS Version of each card and make sure their both on the same page.

    Also from:

    http://www.i4u.com/section-viewarticle-142.html

"The 8800 GTX requires two 6-pin PCI Express graphics power connectors per card. If you are looking to run SLI with the 8800 GTX, you will need a PSU with four of these connectors. The 8800 GTX will not perform as intended and may not work at all if only one PCI Express 6-pin power connector is connected to the card. One single 8800 GTX requires a minimum 450 W PSU with a 12v current rating of 30A."

Damn also seems like you need 2 PSU's just so you can run SLI. Cant seem to find an indication of your PSU!

Okay PSU certainly keeps coming up for running 2 of those cards in SLI:

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX SLI Performance Review

    9600gt sli freeze when gaming

PSU seems a recurrent theme but they also discuss the Drivers. I hope your PSU has the 4 x PCI-e power connectors!

Well I'm hoping were getting somewhere, I wanna see your 3DMark06 score!

Have a good look around on the SLI Zone forums as well maybe something will pop up.

Okay another common theme is Driver support and from what Im reading over at Guru3D.com is that the best drivers at the moment for your cards in SLI is the 174.74beta still isolating this specific driver.

Have a look at this thread if you like:

    8800 gtx sli problems

and there are others indicating this is the best Driver:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_174.74.html

Please make sure you use Driver Cleaner Pro in "safe mode" before installing the latest drivers.

I would try some different drivers, if that doesnt work seriously consider RMA the card.

I'm guessing you are talking about the graphics card, right?
I've also read on the motherboard reviews that people have been getting a lot of faulty ones.

Yea the Video Card if it's still under warranty let them sort it out, you shouldn't expect that from a single card, should be fairly straightforward?!?

That's what I was thinking... That all these items should give me no problems...
I'll update drivers and report back.

Damn I want most of your gear:-D but importantly let them sort the card out so you don't inadvertently have something go wrong and void warranty
