I would like to address the issue of disclosing one's OS key using these types of programs inadvertently. Please advise folks that when using them that it is imperative to delete one's key before posting so it is not displayed, that could hurt them real bad!

Thanks to whomever for helping out deleting a members key in a certain post.:wine

Agreed. Thanks augie, as I've noticed this being recommended fairly regularly now and I've had to edit the OP's logs.

What is an 'OS Key' ?

    a reference would do.

OS key is your 25 digit license to your operating system. Speccy gives the key in its report. An unscrupulous person could try to use a poster's key and thus cause problems with their Windows Validation.

    Thank you.

As to why it is there - can I use mine to get a copy of XP on CD (from the OS license issuer ), whoever that is? I do not have one because my PC was bought with it already installed (Compaq), but I feel I need one in case of severe PC failure (e.g., HD breaks with my only copy of XP on it)
