    Hello again
I just found out this morning that there is one more problem with adware on my computer. There is some sort of program that keeps popping up that says my computer is infected and to click it for software. I'm pretty sure the software is not legitimate so I'm not going to download it. I can't seem to get rid of this message from popping up and it's on the task bar. I've tried right clicking to see what it was and see if I could delete it but I can't right click on the icon. I tried going to symantec.com and I did a virus scan and it said there was one infected file. The file vwlummc.dll was infected with Adware.SpySheriff and it's located in C:\WINDOWS\system32 and I don't know if it's safe to delete or is it important for my system?

    In this case then Nathan

Do please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

I know it looks alot to go through but to rid yourself of malware then these steps are proven to be the best 1st way to start to clean up your PC, once this lot is completed and the requesed logs are attached then our experts in malware removal will post a tailored set of steps fro you to follow to remove the remaing.

    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

      • [*]runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
        [*]newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Good luck :)
