All Those Useless Programs.

Just bought a new Toshiba laptop from Circuit City and it has came with Mcafee Security Center, all this Toshiba BS, a boat load of AOL garbage and Microsoft Office trial stuff. Can i delete all of this through add remove programs w/o messing up my computer? I deleted all this stuff once before on another laptop and it went south on me.
I downloaded ZoneAlarm, AntiVir PE Classic and AdAware SE Personal. Can you all think of anything else to put on here? All input appreciated. Thanks.

 

The answer in short is yes. Just make sure that you do not delete anything that has to do with the Toshiba Power stuff, or Video settings programs. If unsure, post the model, and we can help from there.

 

Its the A105-S2071. Just a little scared because i deleted some Microsoft Office files from a previous laptop and the thing wound up in the shop.

 

So lets say CC deleted something important and i did make backup. How do i make it all good again?

 

CCleaner does not delete anything important, it is the person between the chair and the keyboard that always makes that mistake. As for deleting anything from Office, and killing the OS, that would not happen, unless you see first sentence.

 

I am guessing that you probable did not get any CD/DVD's with the installed software on it, so I would back-up your system to CD/DVD's create a boot CD,then reformat HD and partition as you like then download from Back-up, then AND ONLY THEN remove what you want, if it goes south, you always have the original on Back-up. You will find your system works much faster after you have gotten rid of the C**p from both MS and Toshiba. CCleaner is almost idiot proof, however Advanced Window Care can cause some problems if you do not know what you are doing with it, Great Program though.
