I have a XP Pro box used by many different people, with several different administrators and many limited accounts. I would like to be able to let my limited accounts run a certain program installed on the computer that only administrators can run at this time. This machine is not on a network or anything like that. Here's what I've tried: I went to the exe file of the program and right clicked it. After going to properties, I thought that I would have a Security tab, like Windows 2000 does, so that I could manually allow the limited accounts access. XP Pro doesn't have that listed. How can I fix this?

My Computer > Tools > Folder Options.

On the view tab, uncheck Enable Simple File Sharing.

Voila! You have a security tab.

Well, what exactly have you tried?

Enabling the security tab does not make any permissions changes in itself, save network access into the machine. You still have to do it yourself.

There is the option of Run As...but the admin username and pass would need to be entered each time.

I also used to have the same problem. I have two acocunts on my computer one administrator and a limited. To make certain programs run on the limited account i changed the limited account to administrator and then re-installed the programs and then i turned the account back to limited and the programs now worked on the limited acount. That is how i did it, i believe there is another way but you need to go to the microsoft website and find out. Good luck

Well, I fixed it. I had to go through and manually give everyone the permissions to every folder that delt with the program in question. I thought that by giving everyone the full control of the exe file, the problem would be solved. Thanks everyone for your help.
