I have Alltel UM175 wireless modem and have used it since Feb. 2009. I have Vista x64 on desktop (built by my nephew) and Vista x32 on laptop. Material that came with modem says it is compatible with Vista. I had been using the modem back and forth on both computers for a year, and suddenly on the desktop with Vista x64, I could no longer access internet. Still works fine on Toshiba laptop. Uninstalled and reinstalled several time with same problem. Quick link mobile installs just fine, but when the modem tries to setup with driver, I get the following error:

C:\Users\Judy\Appdata\Local\Temp\DGPX700AL_AR\PTDLAR64.exe is not a valid Windows x64 Application

I have searched online for answer, and have found 3 posts with similar problem with Vista x64 and this modem, but no answers were given. I suspect that something in a Windows Vista upgrade is what triggered this error.

I have called Alltel Tech Support and gone to local Alltel to complain, and they tell me that nothing is wrong with modem, must be my computer and call a computer tech. I feel that the problem was due to a Windows upgrade, and that it rendered the modem incompatible with Vista x64. Modem is now obsolete, but I cannot "upgrade" for free until Oct. 2011.

    Please can anyone help?

    Hi

The location of the non valid file is in a temp folder and generally you can delete everything in thdm , due to the nature of what a temp folder is for, so try the following,

    1. Navigate to the location listed in the error, but right click and copy the folder named DGPX700AL_AR and paste it to your desktop, then delete the folder from the temp location and reboot and try your internet again.
    2. If above doesn't clear it, then uninstall the modem software/driver, download and run ccleaner http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html and run its cleaner and registry options (run the registry one until nothing shows for removal) reinstall the software again, I know you have reinstalled in this step we are alsi cleaning tge temos and registry of any potential conflicts or corrupted files.
    3. What security software do you have installed? disable your antivirus and firewall to test.
