Almost the Weekend

Wake up everyone. It is Friday. My vacation starts today.
We leave Sunday night for a week in Black Hills SD. There is a thread from about a month ago where I asked for ideas. Didn't get any, so had to do it on my own. Got a travel catalogue from there, etc.and we are now all set. Except for the shopping. Doing that this weekend.
Has been a rough month or so around here, so will be great to get away and have some fun. Temps here will be 100 or so, but a little cooler where we're going.

What is everyone else doing this weekend?

 

Lucky you for having two weeks. I could probably use the second one to recuperate from the first...lol

I just want to get home from work, and do some serious work on my new computer case. This project has gone on long enough and I want to get it finished. Besides, I want the case finished so that I can but a new computer in it.

 

the wife and I are going to spend the weekend at my mom's place. She's diabetic and had surgery on her foot 3 weeks ago, so we'll be helping her out around the house.

 

Got back from Holland on wednesday, so had my few day vacation although going to Corsica later in august

However, this weekend is my parents silver wedding anniversary, a whole 25 years - sheesh! So me and sister have been organising the party for sunday, got a lot to do tomorrow, party on sunday and then they've asked my band to play in the evening - I think those 25 years have been giving them strange ideas!

This weekend starts with coming into work Saturday morning to do some office manoeuvres for my team. The rest of the weekend will be taken up with yardwork related stuff......we are working at sectioning an area of the back yard for the dog, as he's big and pretty intense at times, especially if people are visiting.

Apart from that, I hope to get some zucchini pineapple bread baked, as we have zucchini growing like crazy right now, amongst other things, and some R&R time for reading my book would be good...Dean Koontz...any other fans out there?

Oh yeah, and trying to fix my son's computer...see the thread in Software for that...ongoing...

well when a clients server blows up at 2:15 and I have to go fix it and recover 2 years of data from a bcakup i've got the best deal. but that only happens once well only once so far

 

I've been employed to 'research' new software solutions now too lol...... what would the BOFH do in that situation ? ? lol

Well I always have 'backup plans'. For instance 'the boss' wanted the admin passwords, obviously I couldn't refuse...... He then gave them to a user so he could remote login to MY server to check his mail. Point 1 he can't check his mail by logging into the server since I took outlook off it. Point 2 He can't check it from the admin account because if outlook WAS on there it would be setup to check the Administrators (ME) email. point 3 I set up Web Outlook and taught all the users to use it.

Now if anything goes wrong I look in the logs and go ahh yes someone logged in at this time, this is when it appears to have happend......

 

WELL...getting back on track here!!

I seemed to have totally lost a day this week!! I woke up this morning and my wife says guess what today is?? When I was a kid I always forgot friday was trash day, so I knew what she was getting at!!!!

So I say It's not friday!!!!

She says yes it is!!

I say no it's not.

She says yes it is!!

I say No it's thursday.

She says NO IT'S FRIDAY!!

So I lay there pondering on my next comment that will tell her in a subtle kind of way that she has been smoking too much crack!!

She says I'M TELLING YOU IT'S FRIDAY!!!!

So I jump out of bed, remembering that my cell is sitting on my night stand charging, so I grab it, flip it open without looking at it, stick in her face...and she sits there staring at me with a s#$%t eating grin on her face, so I turn the phone around...take a quick glance at it, close it, throw my clothes on, while heading out of the room, and I say...

See I told you I need to get the trash rounded up!! Geez!!

And off I go.

I have always heard of people saying that they have lost a day, and there are times when I have to stop and think about it a minute, but I have never truly 100% lost a day!! After getting my A+ cert finished, I have taken the last few days off to clear the noggin, so I guess that is a sign I need to get my nose back in the books and start working on my Network +!! Never the less...It is the weekend, and I'm not going to go looking for that day...I'm going to leave it right where I lost it!!!!

But anyway...sounds like everyones ready for the weekend I wish you all a good one, and I hope those of you starting your vacations, have a fun and safe one!!!!

BOFH is great stuff.

I remember reading them when the first were making the email rounds.

 

Today mom and I went to my grandma's to clean up some stuff before the estate sale people do their walk-thru. Then I paid $285.18 to ransom my car from the mechanic (pesky alternator...seems the car won't run without one). Tonight I'm drinking heavily.

Saturday I've got an open house for a member of my local who just opened his new bigger film & video lighting shop. He was in a horrible car accident a few months ago and is still in a wheelchair...he's planning a lot of free beer, wheelchair races, and doorway dolly races (which he plans to win).

Sunday is for sleep. Maybe some laundry.

 

Jam session tonight...
concert Saturday... Lunch with my son...
band practice Sunday....

 

That is potential for a BAD combination!!!! But it does sound fun!!!!

Finally broke down and bought a new computer case to replace my 4 yr old Lian-Li case. Old case is nice, but doesn't move enough air for modern system. Thermaltake Armor Jr. came yesterday, will spend part of Saturday moving components into new cooler case.

That and chasing some kind of spyware/browser redirector that is keeping me from accessing MG and some other sites from home. Most annoying. (Still at work now.)

 

It could definitely be bad! But I figure he's the one who isn't allowed to put weight on either of his lower legs for the next six months, he oughtta know what's reasonable.
