Hi, my wife accidently downloaded malware last week, and then accidently downloaded av2008 to fix! I remedied most with AVG Free, but I thought some lingered as laptop was sluggish. I just did the READ ME FIRST steps. However, when I ran the Combofix I forgot to disable AVG. Apart from that I think I did everything else correctly.
None of the programs appeared to find anything. Can you check the logs to see if I'm clean? Please find logs attached. Thanks in advance.

Your logs are clean. However I suspect that ComboFix mistakenly remove two files you may need. In ComboFix's backup folder (named C:\QooBox) the below two files i'm referring to are found:
I have a feeling ComboFix is wrong based on file dates and time and also based on no real info that these file are malware and also based on the fact that additional files that came with these two were not delete. The other similar files from the same date and time I'm referring to are the below:
    Code:
    2008-09-12 19:19 . 2008-09-12 19:19 1,024 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\grcauth2.dll
    2008-09-12 19:19 . 2008-09-12 19:19 1,024 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\grcauth1.dll
    2008-09-12 19:19 . 2008-09-12 19:19 114 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\prsgrc.tgz
    2008-09-12 19:16 . 2008-09-12 19:16 1,025 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysprs7.tgz
    2008-09-12 19:16 . 2008-09-12 19:16 1,025 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysprs7.dll
    2008-09-12 19:16 . 2008-09-12 19:16 219 --a------ C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsprst7.tgz
    2008-09-12 19:16 . 2008-09-12 19:16 16 ---h----- C:\WINDOWS\system32\servdat.slm

Notice that ComboFix did not delete these and there is even a \lsprst7.tgz file and a prsgrc.tgz which the DLLs were probably extracted from.

I think these file may be related to any of the below I see on your system which are things you installed.
    Code:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\"
    SAFENE~1 12 Sep 2008 "SafeNet Sentinel"
    SPSS 12 Sep 2008 "SPSS"

    "C:\Documents and Settings\killian driscoll\My Documents\"
    SAFENE~1 12 Sep 2008 "SafeNet Sentinel"

    "C:\Program Files\"
    SPSSINC 12 Sep 2008 "SPSSInc"

    SafeNet Sentinel is this: http://www.safenet-inc.com/company/index.asp

And SPSSInc appears to be this http://www.spss.com/software/?source=homepage&hpzone=nav_bar

The files could also be related to EMBASSY Security Center.

I advise that you rename the lsprst7.dll.vir and prsgrc.dll.vir files back to lsprst7.dll
and prsgrc.dll and then copy or move them back to your C:\Windows\System32 folder.

After restoring these file, continue on with the below.

Now we need to cleanup some items from running ComboFix.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significan amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix.
    3. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Hi, Thanks for that Chaslang. The fixme.reg worked. Again, thanks for your time,
