    Starting this thread as directed by Admin AbbySue:

    I found the MajorGeeks forum searching for info on the Vundo nastiness ... I have tried to follow all the basic cleaning procedures outlined in the stickys of this forum to the best of my abilities. Everything seems to be running shipshape now and I am so thankful to this forum for the help! But I am wondering how I can make sure that I am truly clean of this and other infections? Is there any thing else I need to do? I am attaching the logs from the various procedures I went through, hope I have remembered everything ...
    I would be very grateful for any comments and assistance!:)

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following:

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it(Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    o If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\idgdpchn.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dlnmeqdn.ini
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\htlmfyen.ini
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\idgdpchn.ini

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from ComboFix.

    Okay here we go. Think I did that all right ... Just a note ... after running combofix the computer did not return to the desktop ... I left it all night but it just displayed my wallpaper ... I was able to ctrl/alt/delete and select shutdown/restart from the Windows Task Manager without any trouble before running C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat

    So how am I doing? :) Thank you so much for all this help!

    You are looking good....let me ask you what this is: C:\Program Files\Vcsron?

    Find and delete this folder: C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group

    Tell me if you are having any other issues. :)

    I have not seen a pop up since last weekend, thank jeebus! By the end of it the popups were about every 5 to 10 seconds, I couldn't get any work done at all! Thank you TimW and to all the team here at MajorGeeks.

    I have no idea what C:\Program Files\Vcsron would be ... but when I typed it into Google I got links about Virtumonde infection . . . the folder appears to be empty, can I just delete it?

    One more question: the programs that I installed during the cleaning process, like SuperAntiSpyware and so on, should I uninstall those, or is it okay to leave them installed as long as they aren't active? (just thinking this because I know the other threads recommended not having more than one antivirus program)

    Yes...delete it.

    Yes you can keep them.....they are not anti-virus programs. They can be useful when you want to check your system as backup scans.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1 If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)

    * Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
    * "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
    o Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
    o This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    * Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    2 *If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    3 *If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    6. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Did, done and will do! And again I can't think you and the rest of the folks here for your help and for providing and maintaining such a resource as MajorGeeks!

    One last question: Should I be following the procedures in "Read and Run Me First" on a regular basis, whether I suspect an infection or not?

    The Read and Run is a good guide for us to clean systems......if after running your normal protection and find items that you can not remove, then yes. But following the guide in how to protect yourself from malware is the best bet.

    And you are welcome. :)
