My pc contracted something as I was getting annoying pop-ups saying I had malware. I ran through the 'Read & Run Me First' thread and followed each step of the clean-up procedure. I do not seem to have any popups at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised if something is hibernating to "pop up" on me some later time.....

Attached are the various logs from the clean-up process. If someone could have a look, I'd really appreciate it.

Why am I not seeing any anti-virus software on this machine??

Run this: Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    What is this:
    C:\ST_Temp

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\windows\system32\pokefige.dll
    c:\windows\system32\nutarezu.dll
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\cbidf2kk.sys

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

First off, thanks so much for responding with help!!

As for not having Antivirus running, I did have it running, but
eventually uninstalled it, because I do a lot of DVD authoring and
burning and I had extremely frustrating results with the DVDs not
burning correctly. I uinstalled the Antivirus, which seemed to make a
big difference..... is this something that others have experienced?

I have no idea what C:\ST_Temp is..... it has a creation date of 2/14/2009 and has a bunch of files like the few below:
    PV0b1a30a7 49kb
    PV0b1906cb 49kb
    PV0b186fa4 49kb
    PV0b17ccd0 49kb

I followed you directions and attached is the new MGLogs.zip file......

    Thanks,
    JB

Very bad idea. You risk loosing everything. Many new infections that are occurring will make it necessary for you to delete everything (no backups can be trusted ) and reinstall. This is not something you want to happen.

All of my PCs have an antivirus, a realtime antispyware blocker, and a 3rd party firewall and I have no problems running any DVD authoring programs or creating DVDs at all. You shouldn't either with 3 GB of RAM.

Your logs are clean. I strongly recommend getting properly protected. The next infection may not be such an easy one to remove.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
