I have an amd2800+ also......not one amd's more overclockable chips. You'd first need to get into your motherboards bios. Most amd mobos allow that. If you don't have a manual hit f1 or the delete key at startup. Look for 'advanced chipset features' or something like that. What you'd like to try is raising your f.s.b a couple mhz at a time. Mine is a 266 fsb.....which would show as 133 in the bios (a 'double-pumped' fsb....).....raise it to 135, save your settings and reboot. Check for stability. You could bump it a couple more if that was stable. There are other things that'd help....upping the core voltage etc...But that's basically where you'd go to begin.....the motherboard bios.

Overclocked mine with the FIDs on my motherboard.
    And it steady @ 2.415 MHz + FSB = 322 MHz (temp = 37 C)

i also have amd xp 2800+, but in the bios the FSB is 166 and cpu speed 2250
mhz.the cpu temp. is 35 C.room temp 22 c.and the BUS speed is 800 mhz.
is it the right speed of my cpu?¿¿'
my BUS speed should be less than 400,

The max I have ever reached is 170 anymore then it dies.

I have read that the multiplyers are locked on the 2800 although I seem to remeber a feature that involved a pencil and drawing over some part of the chip.

Not that desperate to find out for a couple of MHz

I don't have a regular Amd 2800 I have one of those new semprons
I have it overclocked to 180 fsb running at 44C 2.16 Ghz (artic silver 5)
-multiplyer is locked @12. I think it would go higher but my memory craps out. its running at 426 mhz.
