i just bought this cpu and am wanting to upgrade but im thinking the cheapest way out is to oc (i have a water cooling sys w 2 80mm radiators and 1 120mm radiator, my gpu stays at 39c and my cpu at 38 under a graw fear and oblivion all the way up load, w an antec psu so i think im set as far as power and cooling) but my question is is there any possible way to unlock this processor this seems to be one of the few randomly selected locked processors.:confused:

    What do you mean Locked?
As far as I know, All AMD CPU are upwards locked, except the FX models.
    All are downward unlocked.
You can still up the FSB/MHz, User defined settings In BIOS Soft Menu Setup, if your memory is weak use a divider in BIOS DRAM Configuration, Max CPU MHz is what Matters. (sometime the Max CPU MHz is achieved by using a lower Multiplier)

    Cooling you might be set?

    Power, I dont think so!

I'd upgrade the PSU before anything else, I'd suggest one that can provide 30 or More amps on the +12v rails
If you like Antec, a minimum of say a True 480w, they are Dual rail, total of 36 +12v amps

Most of the socket 939 3700 can do near 3GHz, socket 754 dont know

Clawhammers are not nearly as overclockable as San Diegos, I would expect 2.8 at the most. Also, like Asus says, get yourself a new PSU, with all that hardware straining that small 350 watt, it wouldnt surprise me in the least if you see massive rail fluctuations at load, which wont help your oc at all, not to mention system stability.

well i guess its good i have been looking at a psu already then so thats outta the way, yeah i got a little eager and went ahead and took my fsb from 1600 to 2000 and upped my agp bus from 66 to 75 mhz (dont really know if it helps any) but i am sad that i cant unlock my processor somehow wow i just checked my amps on my psu per rail on 12v is 10a and 15a, i didnt realize it was that loaded. im gonna go get anotherone right now
