I know the higher up models like e6700 will beat the amd 600x2. But, I don't want to shell out any more money on computers.

When I do, I'm buying a new AMD quad, newer nvidia and what not. I'm trying to see which processor you would rather have.

    Amd 6000x2 3.0ghz or Intel core 2 duo E6400 @ 2.13 ghz.

I have the E6400, I can sell this pc for 700, and build a 6000x2 machine.

which would one is truly better?

I really dont think youll notice too much difference between those 2 chips. I'm sure the fan boys for both sides will pop out of the wood work soon, but having used both amd and intel dual cores I would stay with what you have now until such time as upgrading will yield enough results to make it worthwhile.
