AMD Athlon 64 3700+ in my MS6712 motherboard

Hello people ive seen a deal on a AMD Athlon 64 3700+ CPU and I was wondering could I put it in my MSI 6712 VIA KT4V motherboard Version 10A.I currently have an Athlon AMD 2600+ in it,but I badly need an upgrade.I would really appreciate a bit of held.

 

Dont have time now to chase down your m-b specs but im going off of memory, dont think your chipset will support the higher fsb on the newer processer, some deals now you would be ahead to buy the combo, mother board and processer together, then be sure your memory will work. ed

Post some mroe info about your motherboard. That's a model number you posted?? Who's the manufacturer?

System Info utilities like EVEREST will tell you if you're uncertain.

you might want to look into Asrock mobos. they're made by asus if i remember right. The thing about Asrock mobos is that they're cheap and upgradeable. if you have an agp video card and you're considering moving up to pci express one of these days then this mobo would be great for you cause it has both slot types. plus like i said before they're not very expensive. It's what i currently have in my rig. might check them out on newegg.
