AMD X2 upgrade question

Specs are in sig, can I run this with my board? This will be the last upgrade from a Venice 3000+. Is it overkill? My RAM is PC-3200 and I'm thinking of adding 2x1GB sticks. Also, I will be running Vista. TIA AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz / 1MB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket 939 / Dual-Core (Manchester) / Processor with Fan

My advice. Get the oem toledo. you dont get a heatsink or anything outher than the cpu but its the same heatsink that came with your athlon so your not really loseing anything. The toledo is the same core as the FX-60 to but i say get the oem and a tube of artic silver 5 and reuse your heatsink. $146 for that cpu is expensive but you could wait untill the 22nd of this month for the price cuts. i dont know if they will be droping any 939 prices but you can check into that.


Do you feel you need more ram? im leary on buying DDR since all new stuff will take DDR2. If you feel you need it go for it but more ram never hurts so its really all upto you.

 

Thanks for the response. As I'm not going to change my mobo for a couple of years, there's no use going DDR2. I want to take my rig to it's uber maximum capabilities as I can't afford the money to go AM2 ATM.

As to the AMD price drop, it's supposed to happen tomorrow with pre-built systems. I guess the 22nd is for us builders. Anyways, when I get a new rig, this one will be a dedicated folding machine. Thanks for the advice.
