American Laptop in Europe - Help Needed

My Fiance is finishing up her Masters in France and brought her HP Compaq 6510b and Asus Eee but neither will charge. Both of her power supplies are 100-240v with 50/60hz and she has American --> Europe adapters...any ideas on why this will not work?

Her friend has a Macbook Pro and it is working fine with just the adapter...they tried interchanging adapters and outlets to make sure it wasn't something faulty but to no avail...

Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

 

Apparently the Eee does charge but the HP still doesn't...

 

Have you thought about looking at the battery as the possible cause?

 

The battery and charger both worked perfectly fine the night before she left.

 

Remove the battery and see if the pc will run on just the charger[ power supply]. ed

Tried that one already sadly

Unfortunately her power supply also doesn't have an activity LED either so it's kind of a shot in the dark on if it is working...

Any other troubleshooting ideas?

She has checked connection from the plug to the brick and from the brick to the input on the laptop.

She has tried to flip the adapters as well...nothing is working.

 

We are to the point of needing parts to try, without a working power supply we are totally in the dark, i would go to a pc repair shop and ask them to try a used power supply, if it works, buy it. ed

 

Yea, I was hoping to avoid that but I guess everything else has been exhausted... Now it's time to find a computer repair shop in France
