An Installer For Local Installs From Usb

I've been playing around with 'InstallPad' which is very good for what I want.

    http://installpad.philisoft.com/

I'm building 40+ Laptops with custom Windows build and then I have about 15 apps which need to be installed. This app looked perfect as you can add 'File:///' to source form the USB, which is great - BUT - for some reason even though you specify a local file it still tries to copy the file from the memory stick to a Temp folder on C:\ (or where ever else you specify) instead of just running the file.

Maybe it's something I haven't configured correctly or set properly but the site doesn't mention anything about this - even in the FAQ's - and the dev's are silent.

I need this for Tuesday next week and have it all set up but if I can't solve this I'm going to have to look at something else last minute.

Normally the copying locally prior to install wouldn't be an issue - although we are limited by time - but for some reason the app takes about 1 minute+ per MB ?? Acrobat Pro is 700MB (Tries 3 different sticks) If this can be solved I'm good to go.

Failing that the only other thing I can find is this app, but it's paid. There is a trial but I would imagine it's limited.

I've used your site over the years for loads of advice and great apps, I've only just registered but have the utmost respect for what you do and this site is one of the last beacons of rational IT help out there.

    Cheers.

Actually I missed part of the site and he does specify that this will be an upcoming feature.
    • Option to delete downloaded files after successful installation
    • "Reset" button on the preferences dialog that resets the options to their installation defaults.
    • Show which version of the application we've found in the UI if the user has the "find latest version" option enabled for an application
    • Open an applist.xml from an online (HTTP) source
    • Command line option to run Installpad and install everything in an applist.xml silently
    • Preference for setting a web proxy's credentials (this is completely implemented, it just needs a UI & testing)
    • Preference for logging events to a log file, e.g. which downloads/installs succeeded or failed
    • Option for pre-installation scripts
    • Installation files on file:// and file://// locations are already local. Add an option to applist.xml, where we can just run the installers from those locations instead of downloading them. In fact that should probably be the default behaviour for these types of file URLs
    • Handle downloading from relative URLs
So it looks like I'm screwed.

Yes I have and I use that initially for the free apps, PDF writer, WinDirStat, 7Zip etc... But I don't need a package installer that downloads. I need a local install. I believe that NINITE Pro does this but I don't want to go down that route.

It's a shame there isn't something free like 'SilentInstall' as I just tested this and it basically packages all your apps - with recorded actions for dialogue - into one single MSI file with a menu if you like and just runs through everything. Again, this is a paid app for full access.

I'm installing Acrobat Pro, Adobe Apps, AVG Managed Workplace, AVG Cloud Care, Virtual1 Backup Agent etc...

Almeza Multiset, was given away several times maybe you can find it.

With a good macro program you could write your own scripts, many will do that task easily.

Thanks for the suggestion but this is old and only support XP as far as I can see which is no longer supported or safe.

    ~v8.7.0 Updates - Released Dec 8th, 2013

I've used Winreducer for the build and decided on SilentInstallbuilder for the app roll out along with Ninite for the open source stuff. Boss might even buy a full subscription for SIB.
