I know I've been quiet for a while on this (a bit too close to my own situation), but since your first announcement there has been a prayer chain across Australia for Debbie, her family and of course, yourself.

I can only imagine how relieved both you and your familys are at this moment, with alot of rest, recovery and love... she will be on the road to recovery.

Sorry, I had read all this earlier as you've been posting. I knew the Docs had her "under". I wasn't meaning "literally" not waking up, I guess - I meant, things were so bad and now - looking better.
But I'm glad you explained for a reminder of all she's been through. Hope you're getting good sleep and nutrition yourself.

Ok folks, you are probably all getting tired of hearing about this but if you don't mind I will keep this up until Debbie is out of the ICU.....

The latest from my dad:

The weather is cooler today, mid 80's

Debbie was off the ventilator, but still has the 'traq', feeding tube and catheter. She had been setting up in the 'chair' for a couple of hours this morning and was sleeping when I arrived. She woke about about an hour later and we talked, I talked and tried to read her lips (not very successfully) for about 15 minutes.

I let her rest and came back about an hour later. She had been placed in her 'chair', again and I spent another 30-45 minutes with her. Very frustrating for me, but she wanted the company.

The 'chair' is adjustable, folding flat like a gurney so they can slide her directly from the
bed to the 'chair', and back again. It is basically divided in thirds, so the head and foot are
adjustable into the 'chair' shape. The purpose is to make her muscles do some of the
work. It works, because she does hold up her head, and is beginning to move her arms. I did not notice much movement of her legs. It does not appear to be comfortable, but
beets lying flat on your back in a bed.

Plans are to replace the current 'traq' with a smaller one, which, if successful, may allow
her to talk. I;m guessing it will be a couple of more days before the feeding tube is
removed. At the current rate of progress, she might, might, be out of ICU this weekend.
