Question about installing the front headphone speaker jack on the case to my AN8 32X ATX AMD Motherboard.

The manual shows where to install it on the mobo, however it says once I remove the jumpers that are currently in place, I lose my rear output. The wording is very vague (almost verbatum of what I said), so I wanted to know if I hookup the front headphone jack (and remove the jumpers) am I going to lose my rear 7.1 surround hookup?

Yes and no:) ,the line to the front of your case is just an extension from your motherboard sound chip this wont change anything, when you plug some headphones in though you will lose the rear outputs as your now using your headphones and dont need sound from your speakers :)

Does that explian the wording

Ahh, okay...that makes sense. Ofcouse when you plug in headphones your speakers shut down :)

    Thanks!

One other question. The cord that comes back for my headphone jack has 3 different connections. 2 9-pin connectors labled AC'97, another that starts with an A and then several individaul 1 pin connectors. Both the 9 pin line up with the front pin interface from my case and then in my maunal it shows what each of the individual colored 1 pin connectors are for.

None of the documentation says what either of the 9pin connectors are for.
Can I just hookup one of the 9 pin ones or do I need to do the individual ones?

Just to add to this. If you unhook your front audio panel for whatever reasona nd don't put the jumper back, you still lose rear speaker output :)

In regards to the wiring, I'd see if you can contact the case manufacturer. My TT case had single pin connectors for every connection :( The manual gave the laout of how to hook it up on an Asus board, so i lucked out.

Some cases have wiring that will allow both front & rear jacks to be used.
    The wiring is jumpered
If I can find a picture I'll post it.

    The board allows both.

What I was saying is, if you remove the jumper on the mobo that turns off the Front panel audio, then unhook the front panel audio and dont rejumper it, your back audio will not work.
