and now for a little bit of good news

For years I have been volunteering with a local Junior High School woodshop teacher to get a very cool program for kids off the ground. This is not your typical woodshop program, it teaches kids how to build guitars from scratch! That's right, 12-14yr olds learning trade and life skills by building something they can actually be proud of for years to come.

We have been busting our behinds for about 10 yrs now and its finally starting to get noticed. Every major news channel in the greater Sacramento, CA area has done a news story on the program, a few even have video.

There was a major set back a few months ago. Since then, I assumed the web duties and basically learned how to do webpages overnight. It was fun but also rough as I have my plate full already with various other things, 3 kids, fulltime job, etc.

What an awesome program! I wish I had something like this around here, I'd definitely participate. Site looks good too! Better than anything I could put together.

 

thats an awesome program for highschool. back when i was in highschool, we had woodshop, then advanced woodshop, then when we were seniors we got to build a house. it was pretty cool. i think learning any kind of trade like that in highschool is amazing. gets people interested in school, and when i was in highschool i wasnt all that interested to say the least.
