and now it doesn't see my digital camera!

It used to be that when I plugged my panasonic DMC-LZ6 digital camera into the USB, the Scanner and Camera Wizard program automatically opened. Now nothing automatically opens. the Scanner and Camera Wizard does not see my camera at all, even if I manually open the program. I can go to my photo editing program (Ulead photo express) and download the photos, but that is a royal pain. And since Ulead can see the camera, i guess it's not the camera or the usb?

You probably need to re-install the driver from the disk that came with your camera hardware. Have you been deleting some of those many .dll files you have been finding perhaps?

 

NO! I haven't -yet. And I can't find that stupid little disk. grrrrrrrrrr. But thanks for reading and helping.

DH found the disc, I tried to install the USB driver and got this error:
USB equipment operates with driver installed as stardard. You do not need to install a driver.

What does that mean in newbie-ish?

cali, I Googled around, but could not find the driver..not uncommon. The Panasonic site is kinda ridiculous for the support it offers under "drivers and downloads". All it's got is firm ware upgrades for autofocus etc etc.
Lev, mentioned you had some probs with the.dll file.
Any good camera shop will burn the driver for you for free - almost.

 

Do you get any sound showing the PC recognizes device has been plugged in?
If so, does the camera show in My Computer?

 

Yes, it makes the sound that the camera is plugged in, but it doesn't show up in settings>control panel>scanners & cameras
and in my computer it doesn't show the camera either.

 

Haven't been in run,services.msc or Administrative Tools and tweaked your services? I use Picassa from Google in Linux for camera picture downloads, saves the hassle of downloading all kinds of other applications. Could try check disk or System File Check for starters. Might need installation disk for sfc. Use a command prompt for chkdsk, use the r option, chkdsk c:/r

files get corrupted sometimes, and it is a Windows Operating System.

Oh, kingston is the manufacturer of the SD card. Ugh. I tried different cards and different cameras, no ggod. MUST be a windows thing

 

Try a right click (On the Kingston device) and see if you get a choice to Import Pictures in the menu.
That doesn't solve your original problem but it may make life easier.

Also, this may work to fix your autoplay problem:
Download this:

Then double click on it and follow the directions on the screen to fix the problem.

if i right click properties I have an Autoplay tab, I chose pictures from the drop down and selected the action of copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard.
