I've changed hardware many times and reloaded Vista at least three times (once because of corrupted install), this last time I've been informed that I must purchase another license to continue using my copy of vista. Am I stuck with what will become an almost useless OS that I purchased?

    Hi

The only time you should have to purchase a different license for Windows is if you change out the motherboard with a different model motherboard.

This is also only the case if you buy an OEM/"system builder" license of Windows.

A full retail copy of Windows can be used on any one computer at a time.

You may have to call Microsoft in order to re-activate Vista on your system.

Ya, call MS and tell them you changed the mobo, they're good for that usually. That's one reason that they sell an OEM version at a cheaper price.

Actually I did swap out mobos and reloaded vista ultimate 64.
