    Hey guys,
Recently I had to replace my laptop ac adapter/charger due to failure to recharge battery. Works fine, but now I keep getting a floating image of an adapter, showing it either charging or not charging - and it will frequently sit there and quickly flash back and forth between the two. This is extremely annoying, and I'd like to shut it off, but I can't find where this setting is.

Can anyone help with this? I don't know if this is normal behavior, or if it indicates a malfunction of the new adapter.

    Thanks for any assistance.

This can be a tricky one based on what's generating the message.

First, try going into the BIOS setup screen at startup and see if there is a setting to disable battery and/or power management (WARNING: If you are not sure of what any setting in the BIOS is, it's best to leave it alone).

If this fails, download Advanced System Care Free (in the MG downloads section) and use the Startup Manager in the program's "Toolbox". Disable any programs that deal with monitoring the system or power options (you can re-enable them later if needed).

If neither of these options work (and you have a generic replacement power adapter) and you still want to get rid of the message, you may have to purchase a genuine ASUS power supply. On a related note, Dell is notorious for requiring a genuine power adapter to enable battery charging on many of its newer models.

    Hope these tips help. :)

You could also try Control Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced Tab and see if you can turn it off from there. I'm running a Dell Precision M70 with XP Pro and that's where I can turn it off.

Can you right click on the image and from there, set any options to disable the notice?

Did you install new software with this charger?
