    Hi,
I installed Anonymizer 2004. I don't have any problems with the software. When I went to their site to register the software, they asked for a screen name and a password which I gave them. They told me they were already taken and they gave me a password and a screen name. What is strange is they gave me for a screen name, my first name and middle name and for the password they gave me a password that is used by my wife on this computer.
How did they get this information? I have an idea how they got it but looking for an exact answer. Any information will be great. Thanks, Brian

Welcome to the Jungle, and welcome to MajorGeeks! :)

When you installed the software, there was probably a data miner application of sorts that was installed with it, and you accepted it by clicking on the EULA without reading it fully as most people do. I have been guilty of this myself. This program would search your computer for accounts, passwords, etc. , and report back to the parent server, because you gave it permission to do so.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to be truly unrecognizable on the web, as most everthing can be traced to an ISP address. Yes, you can go through countless servers on different continents and slow the process down, but you will eventually be discovered, if enough money is willing to be spent doing so.

    Hope this helps! :) :)
