Anonymouse.org

What seemed like a good idea at the time has turned into a big annoyance. After getting information about the site Anonymouse.org from a reputable online help site (not yours) I tried it out. It's supposed to give you anonymity as you search the web. It seemed okay, so I made it my home page (there was a statement that said to go to this site first when surfing in order for it to work). I now want a different home page, and it will NOT let me change it. Help me, Major Geeks, you're my only hope......

 

From what I can tell on their site there is no installation or anything required, all the website does is download the page on their server and feed it to you so the request cannot be accuratly tracked by your isp or the site you surfed to.

Do you have any security applications like Windows Defender or similar, these often lock your home page to prevent malware form changing them.

 

As far as I know, I don't have anything like that running (I'm a very minor geek!) but if I could change it TO this home page, I would think I should be able to change it BACK. Very strange. Thanks for the input, though. I really appreciate it. I'll catch on eventually!

 

Kinda ironic...this anonymouse.org site claims to "Protect your privacy, protect your data, protect it for free. ", but comes up as RED on McAfee Site Advisor, so I woudn't be too sure about privacy & protection from it.

Site advisor can report quite a lot of false positives on sites that involve user input, however it may be true, it seemed safe enough when I checked it out on a vm earlier, kind of pointless though
