Thse are dumb questions because I am a retired mainframe tech support person, and I should know better, but pc's aint mainframes; and Im getting senile; and I just gotta ask

if I have a 64 bit processor, can I still run a 32 bit operating system.

Next, if I have a 64 bit processor and a 32 bit operating system, can I run a 64 bit program

Not dumb questions at all Gary.. but age does fry the brain a tad ;)

Yes to 64bit CPU running 32bit OS as they are backwards compatible.

No to CPU on a 32bit OS running a 64bit application
