another E-Mail alert

Hi Bill

Up to now I have two emails from companies I deal with that where it by this security breech, and I will be emailing both over the weekend to ask them to stop using this company in the future and why they do not deal with email marketing themselves in house!!?


As both are UK companies they should be dealing with UK marketing companies for the stronger data protection laws, not saying that one of these companies wouldn't be hacked but its not fully clear yet how bad the hack was or was Epsilon's security very poor? (hence why I say UK data laws, as breech of this law carries hefty fines per infringement and this whopper would cost Epsilon if they where a UK company a multi million fine).

 

Indeed one is huge M&S, plus many others I'm just hoping my two banks are not using this company!?

Bill this really does leave many users vulnerable as many do not know what malware is and may not be aware of internet security, they will shop online ok, but knowing whats real or not is a minefield, especially if the folks who have the user name and email addys send out speculative emails for users to re-enter their user account passwords (into a fake site).

This I can see happen as the story is live and in the mainstream press so if a spam email comes from say M&S to say please click here to reset your user account and password due to the security breach you may have heard of at Epsilon, then many MAY well enter this data then their account are compromised!
