Another ie shutdown issue - after trying everything else

So in the last three days I've have three totally unrelated people call me and complain that their internet explorer's are shutting down as soon as they start up the browser. (Ie double click on ie ... ie starts ... ie closes)

I have one computer here at my office that is having that problem that I can speak for directly but I can't directly get to the other computers. Is this a new problem going around and if so is there a one stop fix I can give them?

    Anyhow on to this computer:
I do have a HighjackThis log, I've tried everything that I've read on this forum (of what I could understand and follow) but it's still an issue. One thing that I did do that got Ie up and running was to go into "Internet Options" and disable all add-ons. This got it running but Quickbooks, which I assume uses ie as its embedded browser, starts and stops just like ie did. So I'm assuming I still have to fix the problem with ie for that to work.

There is no up-to-date antivirus program on this computer, and I've just started working here and we'll be getting a company wide version soon, but as of yet this comp doesn't have any. Nor does it have spyware! ... I know, I know.

I've attached the hijack file which I think is what I'm suppose to do ... any help anyone can give me would be great ... so I can fix all these computers!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Are you a person that does PC repairs? If not, why are you working on PCs! If you are, then you should have no problem running ALL the steps in the READ ME as instructed. So please follow all steps in the READ & RUN ME!!!! Make sure you install HJT properly and also rename the executable as instructed in the READ ME.

I'll repeat below the things we need from you! HijackThis is the last thing we want as it is not a malware detection tool and is far from comprehensive.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
