hi guys been having quite a few problems with my laptop the last few days. had to reset and clear viruses off it but now they are gone. my problem now is that my internet is showing that its connected but when i try to connect it isnt loading and says website unavailable. it says ipv6 connectivity no internet access when i open network and sharing centre. maybe theres some settings that changed with the restore. i really dont know. i had it running once but it has cut off again. all other laptops in the house are connected fine. plz help again...will be much appreciated.

On the computer that is not connecting, please do the following.

    click on START
    click on RUN
in the box type cmd (click ok)
    in the command box type
    ipconfig /all (and press enter)

Copy the numbers. Mostly looking for
does it say anything is enabled? DHCP? Auto-anything?
    IPv4 #
    Subnet
    Gateway
    DNS server
    IPv6 entry, if any.

On a laptop that works, follow the same procedure. You'll be able to copy and paste those results here.

Is the laptop that isn't working a different version of Windows than all the others?
    Go to a laptop

(edit to say try this in reverse order. First try the ethernet cable. If not, try a reboot of the whole network. Then the ping commands last if needed)

So nothing is jumping out at me on those settings. Is it Windows 7 ultimate?
Also, what is the wireless router? It shouldn't matter but I've seen two models give me windows 7 trouble lately. I'm guessing that you were connected to it before so it shouldn't be an issue.

On your laptop, do you get any network traffic at all? Can you see your girlfriend's laptop on the network?

    Try this
    click on START
    click on RUN
in the box type cmd (click ok)
    in the command box type
    ping 192.168.0.106
    also try another one
    ping 4.2.2.2
    if that answers try
    ping google.com
You might not get an answer to any of these. That's ok.

Sometimes a router gets weird when computer has identity changes. Have you tried rebooting your entire internet connection all the way to the modem since you brought your laptop back to life? Turn off everything all the way to the modem if you have one. Then bring them up one at a time. Start with the modem and wait for it show it's connection light, then move to the router, then to the laptop.

Also, do you have an ethernet cable there? Can you plug your laptop into the router directly and does that make any difference?

I don't need the exact results, just if you got 4 answers back from each of them.

Odd that you can't open a website on your computer, the connection is working correctly.
I'm assuming that you are using Internet Explorer and have tried to open a few sites with it.

Open an IE window, put 63.245.209.114 in the address bar and enter. Does that give you the mozilla page to download firefox? Download and install Firefox. Does firefox work for browsing the internet?
