Hi,i am new to this site. This is my first thread and before all i just wanted to say hallo to all.

Now i also seem to have a problem with my laptop DVD drive(Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R6112) reading DVD's

For example i wrote a DVD (with Nero) and the proceedure went fine (according to nero) but then i ejected it and inserted it again and windows wound't identify it as a normally written dvd and the dvd drive would keep making that noise trying to read the dvd and eventually it would stop..

Now i would also like to say before posting this thread i read the thread posted by Windstalker yesterday but it didn't help me.I use Windows XP SP2 i opened device manager but i can't find DMA anywhere inside the options i'm displayed. In addition to that, the link he posted is a program in VB which i don't use.

    Any help would be great.Thanks.

Are you having problems with all DVD's? Even store-bought DVD's?

I commonly have problems with my CD/DVD drives getting dusty and they do weird stuff, giving it a quick clean up is an easy way to eliminate a possible problem.
