Another Question about video card changing...

I am planning to buy http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-327&depa=1 <---this card, and replace it with my Geforce mx 420, do i have to do anything before i install the card, because i have never installed a video card on my computer before, the geforce came default with my dell. please someone help.

and if needed, here are my specs,

Intel P4, 1.8 GHz, 512 MB of ram, agp 4x

 

since you are changing manufacturers, you need to uninstall the nvidia drivers, turn the pc off, replace cards, boot with new card in, install drivers for radeon.

and you went and got the SE after recommending not too?

 

How do i uninstall drivers?

I didnt buy the card yet.... and why is it not recommended?

im not really planning on playing HUGE games, like HL2 or D3, i just play games like, CS CoD, and lineage 2.

I need to know how to uninstall my Nvidia drivers, so that when i install the radeon drivers, i wont get any problems, thanks in advance.

 

Ok. Go into Control panel, Add/remove programs... and find nVidia display drivers.. and uninstall them.

BUT don't do that yet!!!! do that before you shut down to install the new card. Then, you boot up with the new card with no display drivers installed, and it will install them from the CD which you'll get with the card.

SE is fine theres nothing physically bad about them... just not brilliant for performance applications (3D games, 3D apps, grapically intensive apps)... theres no point spending more money on a pro if you're never going to use it.

And no-matter what anyone says... you can play CS on a GeForce 2 just fine..

 

Oh definatley. Just dont try to install the drivers before you get the card up and running Use the drivers on the CD to get it working... most of the time it'll work, but they WILL be old versions. Go to www.ati.com and update ASAP after getting it up and running.
