Ill keep this short and simple since you guys have most likely heard these questions a million times :) I have a laptop, a couple desktops and wireless router. Right now I have the router only allowing the 3 Mac Addresses of the computers to connect and the wireless network is suppose to be "unseen" which it is. I have entered the wireless network ssid into the laptop and it connects fine. I still however want to know if someone could possibly "break in" since I do not have the network Encrypted even though I am limiting the connections to the three mac add's. I am having problems trying to get the network Encrypted. If I enable WEP and enter the passphrase and then try to connect to the network on my laptop entering the passphrase in for the key it fails. If anyone has any tips they can give me besides a list of websites thanks.

    Which Router ?
    Which Wireless Card ?
    Which OS ?
    Which Antivirus ?
Which Firwall installed in the System ?
What Channel the Wireless Router is Running at ?
Whats the Standard you are Using ?
What are the Operating System's you are using on other comps ?
Have you flashed any firmware for the router ?
    What Kind of Encryption ?

Not to be rude or anything but you dont need all this information to comment on this problem. I understand you would like to make me look like an idiot, but I am asking this question over the internet for tips or clues to what I have done wrong or have not done period. I have not asked anyone to diagnose the problem at hand, If I needed that I would call someone over to look at it.

    Thanks again.

You dont need to be sorry.

For Example, have you or anyone else recieved this error when trying to login to the wireless router from a laptop.

"The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hex characters."

    Thank you.
