    Hi,

I would like to know, regarding the usa antispam act,did the law backdate to spammers who spamed before the antispam act came into affect? or could they only start going after spammers who spammed once the act came into affect?

and i have heard some countries don't yet have antispam laws. so is this why we still get alot of spam in your inboxes? if a person spams from a country where there is no antispam law, can't the authorities do anything about it?

No country can be forced to uphold the laws of another country within its own borders...that would be silly, counter-productive, and probably create even more strife and war than there already is. So no...if your spam is coming from Brazil, the US anti-spam laws are NOT going to affect it, nor will the spammer be charged under US laws.

The law was not retroactive...I could be wrong about this, but making something illegal tomorrow that was legal today and then arresting you for having done it today goes against our Constitutional rights as citizens of the US.

I could be wrong but I think the law said that all advertisers have the right under the spam laws to send one message per day to you, Which could turn out to be millions of messages per day. Also why does anyone have the right to advertise without paying to advertise? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm too tired to Google it.

While I would never advocate illegal activities, I was wondering why spammers can't be mass spammed. Could they not be jammed up by a concentrated symphony of spam aggression with the primary goal being, to shut them down. If enough ordinary citizens could band together, vigilante style, to each run a spam generator program against a spammer's address to completely overwhelm their resources, that my friends, would be the day that the spammers would be begging for Federal laws to protect them. Do you hear me, spammers???

That would work...if you could first figure out where the spam was actually coming from, if the spammer hadn't hijacked an innocent person's email account, if spammers used the same address more than once...etc., etc., etc.

Run a spam generator to get back at spammers would only achieve bringing the internet backbone to a grinding halt.

And that would be terrible! :( I want to keep my playground and sandpit! :D

Imagine all the lost geeks wandering the streets, aimlessly, if that happened! Depression would spread like never before. We would talk about a new breed of zombies. Society would crumble under the terrible burden.

I shudder to think what I would do if there was suddenly no internet . . . :(

I'd have to plug in the TV again, I guess . . . NOT!

    ;)
