Anti-virus software that isn't a suite?

    It's been recommended that I use an anti-virus program that isn't a suite. Any sugguestions. I just downloaded Avast Free Antivirus 5.0.545.100524 and don't think this is the right choice.

    There were 2 recommendations

    Increase ram to 1g and switch from Norton 2009 internet security.

    I've ordered the ram and now need suggestions on AV

    I have personally been using Microsoft Security Essentials. It doesnt slow my system at all. It doesnt work for XP. Only Vista and Win7.

    There is nothing wrong with Avast, unless you just don't like it.

    Second the choice for Avira AntiVir.
