Can anyone tell me who offers the best home/office antivirus software?

I became aware of Qihu's 360 Internet Security after reading a test report. It was the only freeware product that blocked all 54 exploits that targeted Win XP exclusively. I now run it on my XP, Vista and 8.1 system drives. It's very pro-active so, you may encounter many "false positives" but you can "teach" it. If it encounters something unknown, you can upload the file for analysis.

if you are looking for free then I would suggest Avast or Avira but paid ones then the best one is Bitdefender then Kaspersky.

Only have experience with free a-v, so I have limited knowledge here. Haven't used AVG free in ages and haven't tried Avira at all, so I can't speak for or against them. I used avast for 8+ years I think, but I now believe that 360 Total Security has passed avast for free a-v. Have to enable the Bitdefender and Avira definitions from the Virus Scan tab, but, after that, it's very smooth and intuitive and very light on resources (much lighter than avast and its heavyish scanner). Game mode and shopping mode automatically activate without any configuration, and there is anti-keylogging and anti-webcam piracy. Also, the USB monitoring is very good, and the net protection is really great, too.

I agree with mdonah in that I can say 360 TS is a more active a-v than avast. The positives aren't crazy or off the wall with false ones, though, and I feel like I was looking for a more active a-v when I first tried 360 TS, anyway. Recommend the video in this page, which I think points to great things from Qihoo:

Avast does really work the free edition and it don't eat much on the resources. But I have been with F-secure for 2 years as I get a heavy discount through my internet provider and I'm really happy with it.

I have been using Avira free for the last 10+ years and have never had a problem with malware and the like. I works for me along with my other malware and virus regiment.
