NOD32 is a good antivirus program! Did it occur to you that maybe there is nothing to find? ;) Are you having malware problems? Are other scanners finding problems?

You just need a good antispyware blocking tool and also a firewall. Are you planning on buying these or are you looking for free tools?

I tried downloading Avira AntiVir Personal Edition 7.00.03.02 and it wouldn't download on accelerater plus and it took me to a different site and got 7.00.03.02 that is different from geeks is it the same one, well on NOD32 that i have they installed it free for me when i bought my computer but everytime i scan it say's on every folder file locked, i also installed a-square i scaned my computer and it came up with a few threats that i deleted i don't mind paying if they are better thanks.

That is not the current version! Download the correct version from us ( AntiVir Personal Edition 7 ) if you plan on using this. But do not install this if you still have NOD32 installed.

Yes but you have to eventually pay for it for continued support. You probably only had a trial version. Some files are supposed to be locked, but not ALL files. Did you really mean ALL files (not folders) are locked? Or did you just really mean some?

While A-squared is a somewhat exceptable tool, I find that it has too many false positives. What did you fix with it? Do you have a log?

I don't have NOD32 anymore and it said locked on all files, is antivirus personal edition a good one? and on a-squared i will also delete it and if you can tell me a good one i will install it, i don't remember what it brought up and didn't save report. but on these that you have listed which ones would you download ( PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition 3.1.0.10 )(| Avast! Home Edition 4.7.1001 )( AVG Free Edition 7.5.467a1008 )or the one i was gonna download. And what about SpyWare Scanners/Removers and Prevention out of the ones you listed i appriciate it thank you.

All those free antivirus programs are good. If I had to pick one, right now I would choose AVG.

As far as antispyware tools, again it depends on whether you want to purchase one or use a free one. Spy Sweeper is probably one of the best tools but some people find it to be too resource intensive on their PCs. This can be dependent on your PC's system specs and how much RAM you have. If you are a reasonably responsible person and are careful about where your surf, what you download, how you download (like P2P or torrents), what you click on.....etc. You can easily just use a few free tools for a layered protection. An example would be:

Ok thanks for the help,,,:cool i downloaded AVG Free Edition, and spyware blaster with comodo personal firewall, but i was thinking of deleting that firewall and installing ZoneAlarmFree you think that would be best? Oh you stated that Spy Sweeper is the best one, what is the difference with spyware blaster, thanks.

You need to install SpywareBlaster, Spybot & Spy Sweeper. SpywareBlaster is not a realtime blocking tool nor is it a scanner. Spybot when installed without Teatimer as we stated is also not a realtime blocker but it is a scanner. SpySweeper is a full realtime blocking, scanning and removal tool. Installing all three is what I referred to as layered protection. If you install SpySweeper, do not install Spyware Terminator or Comodo BOClean

If you like Comode Firewall, keep it.

Ok now i understand,, lets say i bought spy sweeper would i still need spyware blaster or any other layer you stated probably not since spy sweeper does everything right?

I think you are missing the point of layered protection for antispyware. You need all three of the below:

    - SpywareBlaster
    - Spybot - with SDHelper and Immunize features enabled
    - Spy Sweeper (or some other realtime antispyware blocking tool)

SpywareBlaster and Spbot setup as above will not use any system resources. Spy Sweeper will!

In addition to the above, you still need an antivirus and a software firewall.

I'm sorry to be mixing things up here, but as of right now i have AVG Free Edition SpyWare Blaster and Comodo Pewrsonal Firewall installed, so i need to download Spybot search and distroy wihout teatimer, now i don't think i want to pay for spy sweeper, so if i download spyware terminator is that just as good as spy sweeper. And on that Comodo personal firewall do you think ZoneAlarmFree might be better, because it's kind of anoying on comodo i alway's get pop up's to allow or not allow. Thanks again.

No it is not as good as Spy Sweeper.

All firewall's do that the first time you run applications that it does not recognize. You have to tell it to allow or not allow and to always do the same thing. You are basically setting up the rules for what applications are allowed to be trusted.

Ok thank you you, then i will buy spy sweeper next week, but if spy sweeper does everything why do i need spybot and spyware blaster with spy sweeper thanks.

No antispyware program is absolutely perfect! The layered approach of using tools like SpywareBlaster and Spybot along with a program like Spy Sweeper is the best approach. In addition Spybot also gives you a secondary scanner to run as a backup to what Spy Sweeper gives you. Before buying Spy Sweeper, I suggest you download it, install it, and check it out to make sure you do not have any problems with it. You can download it and read a little more about it here: Spy Sweeper This is a trial and will scan and does have some active shields but it will not fix/remove anything unless you buy it. At least this way you get to see what it is all about first.
