At least that's what I think that it is called. I came over to my sister's house for the holiday and what did she do but put me to work :-D She's busted her computer yet AGAIN (she's yelling in the background that it wasn't her but her husband and that he deserves all the blame not her LOL) and I need you guys' wonderful, talented help. I didn't run combofix or RootRepeal due to the fact that this is a x64 bit system.

Thanks a bunch for your help! :wave

Ha ha LOL I can believe that too ;)

    Hi Dyamond!

Try to complete the below in normal mode now if possible.

If the PageRage Toolbar is not used then please uninstall it.

Also uninstall these outdated versions of java:
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 13
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 7

    And uninstall this adware:

    • LoudMo Contextual Ad Assistant

Tell her to update Firefox if she uses it.

Is your Sister set up to use the following proxy? If not then please include it in our fixables.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :files
    C:\Users\Chrissie\AppData\Local\grhggigno

    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB}]

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into notepad, save it as something appropriate and attach it into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

There are many temporary files that need clearing from this directory so flush as many as you can away:

Delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

Now reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know how things are running now?
    :)

Hi Kes, fancy meeting you here :-D

I uninstalled the the toolbar, the old Java and LoudMo. I deleted the proxy line using HJT but I had to download and run OTM in safe mode with networking due to the fact that I still can't access the internet from normal mode. I deleted the Temp files but couldn't update Java or Firefox again because no internet :/

I am not seeing anything else that needs doing malware-wise. Hmm I can't see the reason why you cannot access the internet in normal mode. Try this:

    SUPERAntiSpyware

    • Click on the Repairs Tab.
    • Click on Repair broken Network Connection (WinSock LSP Chain)
    • and then click on Perform Repair
    # To retrieve the removal information ( the log )after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.

    Has that made any difference?

Well that *is* good news. :)

I didn't see any outstanding issues in those logs Dyamond, so...

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
