Ok, I'm sorry, but I was unable to do pretty much all of the things listed in the READ ME FIRST thread. I tried them all, but whatever virus is on my computer is stopping me from doing it. I'm currently running in normal (as opposed to "safe") mode. Last night, I was checking my email and surfing on youtube then all the sudden i got a pop-up bubble on the right side of my toolbar from an icon i had never seen before. It's a green shield with a check mark. It said "windows security alert" and then an antispyware soft scanner popped up and started a scan telling me I have like hundreds of infected files and stuff. Any link I click on from that pop up takes me to the website for antispyware soft where it tries to get me to buy it. Anytime I try to go to a web page through internet explorer, it says "this page may not be safe" or something and then it gives me three links all of which redirect me to the website again. For some reason, though, it's still letting me use firefox. I've run several scans with my trusted virus scanner (Microsoft security essentials) but it doesn't seem to be detecting anything. It keeps telling me I'm protected. Every once and awhile it will randomly open a window for a porn or viagra website. I'm continually getting "infiltration alerts" and every time I try opening something, like add/remove programs, I get a pop up message saying "Application cannot be exectured. The file (whatever I'm trying to open) is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" If I click yes, it pops up the fake scan again, and if I click no, nothing happens, but I can't get to whatever I was trying to open. This is the reason i was unable to run any of the scans. I did the downloads, and I have the setup icons on my desktop, but when I try to install them I get that message again. I was able to install, but not run the Ccleaner, I could empty my recycling bin, I didn't update java, but I had just done that right before this all started. I did the "view hidden files" thing, but beyond that, that pop up "infected file" message stopped me from doing anything else. I know you're busy and this is probably a volunteer website, but I would greatly appreciate some help.

Try booting to safe mode. If you have SAS and MBAM installed, you could try running them through either the task manager or through your web browser. You can also try renaming and/or changing them from an .exe file to a .com file.

If you can't run anything at all, you can try creating a boot scan disc if you have access to another computer:
    Kaspersky Rescue Disk.
    BitDefender Rescue Disk-with-auto-update.

The other alternative is to remove the hard drive and slave it to another well protected system and run the scans that way.

Tell me what you can do.

I was able to solve the problem. I found a youtube video on this site about the virus I had. I restarted and booted in safe mode. Then I ran a Combofix scan. I restarted in normal mode and the symptoms appear to have ended. I also ran a Antimalware byte scan and a Microsoft Security Essential Scan, the first of which found nothing, and the second found one or two infected files which were removed. As symptoms have ceased, am I OK to continue my normal computer use, or would it be prudent to carry out one (or several) other actions?
