Antispywaremaster

I keep getting prompts to purchase this. It looks like I have malware in my computer. My internet provider recommends spyhunter to remove this. Will it work? I also installed and ran AVG and it came up with 7 trojans but says if I opt to remove them, I risk damaging my computer/
I am not really a competent type for doing complicated adjustments to my computer but I'm willing to try, at least I will follow instructions. I am sending this on my laptop, which i use, my son uses the infected desktop. I already talked loud to him about visiting risky sites. I guess i should have had AVG on the computer as well to help prevent this.
Can I be helped? If I purchase spyhunter will that clean it up?

I went through the instructions until I just got tired of trying to download so I gave up and did a fresh install and reformat of xp pro. Now I'm going to follow the instructions again to make sure nothing hung on.
I learned more about my computer while doing this and intend to continue learning.
This is a great site and I will be a frequent visiter.

A thousand thanks to those who developed this site. It should be required for everyone new to computers so they can be safer.
