Antivermin

    Hi I am a new member. I didnt know where to go for specific help on my virus so I looked around and found this site. I have gotten many a files here before and thought it would be a nice place to start.

    Every time a media file wont run he downloads some "codec". Well each time he does that he gets a virus even with my avast antivirus program screaming at him not to do it.

    I tried Smitfraudfix and vundofix and neither removed all of it. I dont have the bogus virus software on it but I still have that system tray icon and my homepage is still antivermin.

    Now I am a noob @ hijack this so please stick with me here. I will upload my smitfraudfix report and my hijack this report.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
    NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    I went through all of it. Took me a good three hours or so but it is here I think. All of it except two which could not be completed. I could not complete the panda scan and I could not find the XPhomefile.bat but I hope this wont matter.

    Tell me if I am missing any files. I need to make another post to fit the rest.

    I need the GetRunKey log and a Panda log. If you're running Cable/DSL, try the Panda scan in Safe Mode w/ Networking.

    I did a bit of tinkering and managed to get both to run.

    It was just a problem with activeX with pandascan. It has already found 3 viruses.

    included here are the two files you requested :)

    Please see this thread on Running AVG Anti-Spyware and attach the log once completed. Your logs doesn't show too much so maybe this scan will. Also, be sure you update before running the scan.
